We are pleased to announce that our partner Mr. Christopher Morley has been appointed as a member of the Financial Reporting Review Panel (“FRRP”) which is a part of the Financial Reporting Council. The appointment is made by the Financial Secretary under the delegated authority of the Chief Executive.
The Financial Reporting Council (“FRC”) is an independent statutory body responsible for investigating auditing irregularities and enquiring into accounting non-compliances of entities listed in Hong Kong. It is an independent statutory body set up under the Financial Reporting Council Ordinance, which was enacted on 13 July 2006. The FRC was established on 1 December 2006 and became fully operational on 16 July 2007. It plays a key role in enhancing financial reporting and corporate governance of Hong Kong. The FRC may initiate investigations or enquiries upon receipt of complaints or on its own initiative.
